4/18/2008 Reading-Ian McEwan
Ian McEwan,unfinished book list

2)《The Cement Garden》
I didn't kill my father, but I sometimes felt I had helped him on his way(我没有杀害我的父亲,但有时却觉得就是我送他上路).

Two old friends, Clive Linley and Vernon Halliday meet in the throng outside a crematorium to pay their last respects to Molly Lane. Both had been Molly's lovers in the days before they reached their current eminence. In the days that follow Molly's funeral, Clive and Vernon will make a pact that will have consequences neither has foreseen.

Perowne makes his way to his weekly squash game through London streets filled with hundreds of thousands of anti-war protestors. A minor car accident brings him into a confrontation with Baxter, a fidgety, aggressive, young man, on the edge of violence. To Perowne's professional eye, there appears to be something profoundly wrong with him. ![]() ---------------------------
5)《First love, last rits》
A set of stories that show us the ways in which murder can arise out of boredom, perversity can result from adolescent curiosity, and sheer evil might be the solution to unbearable loneliness. ![]() ------------------------
6)《On Chesil Beach》
On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan, is story of one night in Florence's and Edward's life, Its about couple's experience of culture shift in 60s/70s. both being terrified yet thrilled about the wedding night and story is the journey of how both of them reaching brink of their adulthood and their private worried, shared joy.
Its sexual explicit yet it does touch deep into human emotions and illustrates the difficulties of communication & understanding of what goes in their inner secret world. Wow, too many books, hope i have time to finish reading all of his books.
